Chatty opinion piece reviewing the popularity of sewing on the internet.
Recently I have been updating my sewing space, While chatting to the check out assistant at Homebase she asked me "Do people still sew?"
Of course they do! One look at the vibrant and ever growing sewing community on Instagram Facebook or pinterest show the passion many people still have for home sewing. People enjoy sewing for lots of different reasons, quilting - dressmaking - home furnishing.
When I started sewing my knowledge was basic to say the least. I spent lots of time watching Youtube tutorials and Instagram reels to translate the terms in sewing patterns and to learn new techniques. There are many amazing facebook groups were a swiftly posted question is answered with brilliant detail almost immediately. Not to mention the plethora of fab instagram accounts providing excellent inspiration and advice. Some of the best include

Sewing is my hobby, my superpower and my sanity. When im sewing I can go to my happy place, shut out the world and just emerse myself in the full sensory experience. It is the one activity which always relieves my stress and makes me happy. No exceptions. I can plan exactly how I want a piece to work and set about making it happen. Come on! give it a go, you may even enjoy it!
